Reconstructing Amelia comes out in France in September! Check out the awesome cover. Who here thinks I’m just gonna HAVE to go to Paris to help promote it?
And just like that, the first draft of Book 2 in The Outliers trilogy is born. My advice for anyone starting a book? Write like hell until you have enough pages that it’s longer than your typical short story. Voila, novel-in-progress. It’s not fancy, but it works.
The real trick is to repeat in your head and to anyone who will listen: I am writing a novel. You’ll have no choice then but to finish it so you can see how it ends.
Finally starting to feel real! The Outliers called out in PW’s Spring 2016 Children’s Sneak Preview. May 2016 here we come!
“Kimberly McCreight seems to have taken Churchill’s description of Russia, “a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma” as inspiration for this book. That is a good description of this story, and McCreight does a bang up job. The writing is tight, the characters fascinating, the setting perfect, and the story compelling. Don’t miss it.”
